Friday, my granddaughter Tabitha came in to visit me. She heard me when I said that I wanted to go to the Juneteenth celebration in Fernandina, Fl. She rented this amazing car that allowed me to pull up into it while sitting in my wheelchair. Tabitha had to hook the chair in and she did it with such love and power. I was not asking her to do something that she did not want to do. Often people will volunteer to help a handicap person and then you have to hear all about how they are doing you a favor.
We started off with lunch on the rooftop overlooking the beach. I had not been outside in my Jazzy ever. We set and talked the feeling I got was that she was present with no need to rush. Spending time to experience each other was nice new, refreshing. Tabitha is so much me and the fact that we were able to openly share was healing. We giggled, sang, ate at the diner and yes, I had my signature breakfast pork chop. We each had two chops and I saved one for dinner.
Next it was off to Walmart I had not been in a store since I became sick going into Walmart felt like visiting the White House. During Physical Therapy I kept saying I wanted to be able to leave the building. We discussed Sunday and Tabitha wanted to go fishing. Yep, we went fishing with a friend and had a great healthy picnic. Once again, my new wheelchair whizzed around the parking lot and I asked Tabitha to take a picture of me sitting in the Jazzy in the parking lot.
We spent time together it was truly a gift from God. Thank you, Tabitha, for stopping your time and sharing it with me.
